Involvement and cooperation
Involving the employees more closely in the building process has been a priority area in Veidekke for several years. Projects such as We at Veidekke, Under way have contributed to a greater sense of ownership of the processes and increased efficiency among our employees. During the last years, we have also started involving our subcontractors in the work processes. By using the process called involvement in planning, the subcontractors are more engaged in the development of work schedules. Not only does this make for closer and better cooperation between all the parties in the building process, it also makes it easier to plan activities in the right order, and resolve potential problems at an early stage. Further developing the constructive dialogue with our subcontractors will continue to be an important issue for Veidekke's efforts in environmental and social responsibility in the times ahead. What requirements should we place on our suppliers in this area? Which requirements should we set for our subcontractors in this area? What kind of routines can we establish for checking that the subcontractors comply with the contractual standards for ethics and environmental issues? How can we use our size, with purchases of goods and services in the range of BNOK 11 per year, to contribute to a more sustainable development? This will be one of the topics we've planned to work on in 2010.
