Veidekke has chosen to enter into a global framework agreement with Norwegian United Federation of Trade Unions, the Norwegian Union of General Workers and IBTU (the International Federation of Building and Wood Workers). In it the parties commit to work for continuous improvement within working environment, party relations (with Veidekke employees), health and safety standards at the workplace and the external environment.
In the agreement Veidekke is also committed to
using its position to influence subcontractors and suppliers. The agreement
entails that Veidekke actively complies with several recognized international
standards. These include the OECD guidelines, the UN’s human rights conventions
and the ILO’s declarations on basic rights for workers.

OECD guidelines
OECD's guidelines for multinational corporations. As early as 1976 the OECD drew up guidelines for the activities of multinational corporations, and it has thus been a pioneering institution with respect to corporate social responsibility. Veidekke's obligations are related to contributing to sustainable development through economic, environmental and social progress.

The UN's human rights conventions
The UN's human rights conventions entail that no one in the group must be discriminated against due to race, colour, gender, language, religion, political or other view, national or social origin.

ILO's declarations
The ILO's declarations on basic rights for workers. These comprise specific requirements toward freedom of organization, the right to collective bargaining – measures against discrimination, forced labour and child labour – work on health and safety and decent wages.
