Environmental policy and practice

On the road ahead to the low-emissions society of the future, the private sector's capability of innovation and commercialization will play an important role. This also applies to our sector. In the building and construction industry, systematic and good environmental work can really make a difference. Our sector is associated with 40 percent of all energy consumption and is responsible for 40 percent of all consumption of materials in Norway. In addition the sector contributes 14 percent of all generated waste – and is responsible for around 13 percent of Norway's combined CO emissions. This makes for a significant environmental impact. At Veidekke we want to be a pioneer company in getting to grips with these challenges in the years ahead and want to reduce the sector's total impact on the environment – both globally and locally.
